Here is a tutorial for how to create a radiance image using the command prompt.

Sample Luminance & Illuminance Images from Radiance

Radiance generates two types of Simulation Images - Luminance & Illuminance.
Luminance images are photo realistic renderings.
Illuminance generates renderings for Daylighting & Lux level studies.

Once generated, images can be displayed and saved in various formats. The formats available are:
  1. Lighting levels generated from mouse clicks on the image
  2. Lighting levels displayed in the form of contour lines
  3. Lighting levels displayed in the form of contour bands
  4. Lighting levels displayed in the form of false color renderings
  5. Lighting levels displayed over image in grid format
  6. Sources of glare
